A Spanish fashion company to clone jeansSome days ago in New York, the Spanish company “Jeanologia”, a world leader in laser treatment and development in garment finishing processes, introduced an innovative technique that, by means of the use of laser technology, allows to clone jeans. This technique is already used in 8% of the jeans that are worn by people in the world. It has been used by the Spanish firm since four years ago to make pants and other denim clothing, which are made in 43 countries around the world.

According to Enrique Silla, President of Jeanologia, the company is a research and development center that invents new technologies to work on and produce jeans, especially in an attempt to give them a vintage or old and worn look.

As we know, the jeans are very popular, good for every season and always in fashion. Each year, a lot of jeans are sold around the world (5000 million). This way, while in Spain the number of jeans per person per year is close to 1.5, in the USA the figure rises to 4. Enrique Silla said that currently many people prefer jeans that look old and used.

The Spanish company, with headquarters in Valencia, attempts to reproduce the old-fashioned features (eg, the chevrons). A laser-based light technology is used: a photograph of an old jean is taken and the effects are translated in Photoshop in order to translate them to the machine that sends energy to the garment and clones the old jean.
