Completely agreed about the black leather pants. They are the most comfortable article of clothing that I’ve ever owned. After wearing my Gucci leather pants, I flat out hate putting on bluejeans.
Sure sure…we’ve all heard the advice: “don’t go there”; “eeeww”, etc. Most of those naysayers still think that Friends is the source of wisdom on all North American youth-culture norms. Lord…just because Ross had some problems, does that mean we also can’t whiten our teeth?
For all of those who are lining up to cry foul, like it or not, leather is even bigger this year than it was for 2008-09. Folks, it’s time to wake up and realize that the only “problem” with leather pants is the one between the ears of those who can’t look past stereotypes. Like it or not, ever so slowly, leather pants are inching towards a “critcal mass” of general acceptance. There is a long way to go for sure, but it’s coming.
For those who refuse to accept it, and who cling to the [getting kinda old, folks] idea that there is “just something wrong with leather pants”, they need to remember that 25-30 years ago, wearing a black leather jacket was quite edgy. For many, it meant you were trying to be like the Fonz, or at least someone who you really were not. However, leather jackets are now so common that they are simply nice jackets, but no big deal at all. Things change.
