Tony Soprano sells suits for charity
Tuesday, June 24th, 2008
Clothes include the button-down blue shirt Tony wore in the opening credits and a bathrobe with an embroidered letter ‘S’ on the breast pocket.
Christie’s auction house will be the one in charge of organizing the auction on June 25 and the Wounded Warrior Project will be the beneficiary of nearly 36,500 dollars that will be collected during the auction.
Gandolfini’s contract with HBO, the network responsible for “The Sopranos”, allowed him to keep the clothes once the last season ended, so now he can auction it and donate the money to that beneficent institution, which is dedicated to assisting soldiers who’ve been wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Some clothes in the Tony Soprano’s wardrobe, which will be auctioned by Christie’s, have the original production tags intact and their authenticity has been verified by Christie’s.
