A vest for every woman

Wednesday, December 3rd, 2008

A vest for every womanWhen autumn or winter arrives, cold weather is present and vests become popular again. Of course, we can see this feminine garment during almost every season, although the designs and fabrics are different for every season.

Vests combine well with a long skirt and boots, but also with jeans and sport shoes.  There are vests with zipper closure or with buttons; vests in cheerful colors or, in traditional colors like black, white and blue. On the other hand, knitting vests are in fashion this season, especially hand-knitted vests or those that look like hand-knitted pieces: they are cute in nice colors like blue, black or violet.

Denim vests are perfect for the weekend and if you like to look good, check out the picture: a white shirt matches everything and it gives you a formal touch but without exaggerating. There are ethnic vests with Mexican or South American ornaments. And also there are vests with logos of famous brands.

If you don’t still have a vest,  keep in mind the very tight vests are good for slim women. Other women should wear a little loose vest, but not too much because you will not look good. Also,  those that are tight in the waist are for slim women, and hip-length vests are for curvy women.

Autumn / Winter 08/09 trends: long vests

Although the long vests were seen especially in Yves Saint Laurent’ collections for spring-summer 2008, they are present in most collections this autumn/winter. There are two versions: the vest that looks like a sleeveless jacket  and the leather or fur vest in a more hippie style.

The first group includes Derek Lam’s vests which are black with a leather neck, Diane Von Furstenberg’s vests that feature warm colors, Etro’s vests,  pink Marni’s vests, Phillip Lim’s vests and Calvin Klein’s vests which are minimalist.

In a more hippie and folk style we can include fur vests of Dolce & Gabanna and, in a more elegant version, leather vests like those shown in Derek Lam and Celine collections. Stores like Zara and Stradivarius have launched some versions of the Dolce&Gabanna vests, so we can get one if we want to have the perfect folk wardrobe this autumn.

Certainly it is not the most appropriate option for the most intense cold, but they are really nice and elegant, especially when they are worn with belts.
