Nowadays, we can see a lot of curious gadgets or maybe some strange T-shirts, but this jacket is really a novelty.
The first prize of this year’s James Dyson competition that took place in London, was awarded to the design student Michael Chen, who has designed the Reactiv Jacket: the first jacket made to combat the hostile conditions when you ride a bike in the city.
One of the problems of the urban cyclists is the visibility. Many accidents take place because the drivers of motorized vehicles don’t see the maneuvers of the cyclists well.
Reactiv Jacket uses an accelerometer to detect movement, and it changes the color of the LEDs in the back: green when an acceleration takes place and red when you brake. Besides, when you lift your arm to indicate a turn, the LEDs of the arm will blink with an amber color.
