* Don’t use them for the first time the same day of a sport competition (if you have one). You should use them some days before, so your feet have sufficient time to adapt to these new shoes.
* Check the condition of the sneakers, specially the soles. Typical sneakers can traverse long distances (between 500 and 1000 miles), but the training excess can affect the cushioning area.
* Ventilate the sneakers, so the perspiration can be dried. This way, you can avoid illnesses such as athlete’s foot (Tinea Pedis), and also preserve the cushioning material.
* Always use laces and tie them. There are sport shoes without laces, but they can be quite dangerous. Also, keep in mind that if you tie them too tightly, they restrict the blood flow to your feet.
* Replace the insoles regularly.
* If you suffer frequent pains in the feet or ankles, then you should visit a chiropodist, because some special insoles could be needed.
