Some days ago Sony announced that its PlayStation 3 will support the new PhysX technology and yesterday, NVidia, the graphics-processor technologies company, also announced that the PhysX support will be available for Nintendo Wii. The PhysX development kit will be released for free to all companies with a game developer license for Nintendo’s console.
This support includes an API and physics engine that was designed to provide improved experiences and interactions with the game environment.
According to Tony Tamasi, senior VP of content and technology at Nvidia, “Nintendo has reshaped the home entertainment and video game market with the success of the Wii console. Adding a PhysX SDK for Wii is key to our cross-platform strategy and integral to the business model for our licensed game developers and publishers”.
Besides, he added, “with Nvidia PhysX technology, developers can easily author more realistic game environments” and, in addition, a lot of real-time graphics to create extreme details could be added by using this technology.
