“World of Warcraft” faces rivals that are looking for new worlds

\“World of Warcraft” has become a phenomenon among role-playing interactive online games users. Its unprecedented success has caused other games to move players into new virtual worlds.

This month, fans of the massively-multiplayer online (MMO) game by Blizzard Entertainment, which is a unit of Vivendi Games, lined up outside stores around the world to get their second expansion pack “World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King.”

“World of Warcraft” recreates a vast interactive world. The game has about 11 million people registered as players around the world. Those players pay approximately $ 15 a month to explore the fantastic universe of Azeroth.

The second expansion pack allows players to access to the forbidding continent of Northrend, where the malevolent king Arthas wants to end life on Azeroth.
